Khaddar

Khaddar
KHADDAR
This is a very rough cotton cloth, made in India from native-spun yarns. A much lower quality cloth than any shipped from Lancashire, but is produced so cheaply that the poorer natives can afford to buy it. The qualities vary considerably and one sample was 44 ends and 40 picks per inch, 18's T., 18's W. The weft varied from 10's up to 32's. Heavily sized warp is used and the cloth is the commonest used in India (see Khadi)
